Week 10 This is it, the BIG one.
VT No 303 - Fakery, Hallucinations and Ethics. Smart humans verify before they believe.
Hello Everyone,
This is Week 10, the BIG one. The pointy end. The week that really matters: Fakery, Hallucinations and Ethics.
And it lands exactly where it should, because after nine solid weeks of using AI, prompting, testing, failing, improving, after 9 weeks of the course, you know enough to have a real conversation about AI. You can’t debate AI right and wrong until you understand what you’re dealing with.
A lot of the people shaping AI frameworks in education haven’t done that work.
They haven’t taught, tested, failed or built anything.
They’ve read papers, quoted reports attended conferences and sat on panels.
These “experts” are writing frameworks, protocols and ethical guidelines without ever running a single lesson or seeing how AI actually works with kids.
Lots of chat. Plenty of posturing. Zero application.
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it’s dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Thomas Edison
AI is a HUGE opportunity and it’s dressed in overalls. I’ve worn them.
I built a full 10-week, 50-lesson Free AI in Education course from scratch, tested in classrooms, with real students because it matters.
Not theory. Doing.
Not guidelines. Application.
The golden rule? Start so simple it’s impossible to feel overwhelmed. Before you know it, you’re flying into Week 10, calm, capable and dopamine-fuelled. Enjoy Week 10.
Future newsletters will slow down, landing only when there’s something worth saying.
This one’s worth it.
Enough of the chat, check out the Amazing Tools & Absolutely Splendid ideas I have to share with you today, in the spirit of
EASIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE
& A WHOLE LOT MORE FUN!
Until Next Time…
Hope this helped you feel a bit more caught up (and less overwhelmed).

This is it, the BIG one!
Week 10 is where everything connects, the moment students realise it’s not about the machine, it’s about the Smart Human using it.
You can’t talk about ethics, truth or responsibility until you actually understand how AI works. That’s why Week 10 comes last, because you need to know the nuts and bolts before you can tackle the rights and wrongs.
Now that students know that AI is a probability machine, they’re ready to tackle the questions that matter:
What’s real? What’s made up? & What’s OK?
Why You’ll Love This Week
The Aha! Moment: Students finally see that AI isn’t good or bad, it’s human choices that make the difference.
Digital Detectives: They learn to spot hallucinations, fakes and media manipulation and to challenge what they see.
Ethics in Action: From cave art to deepfakes, we explore why humans fake, exaggerate and invent and how intention changes everything.
The Grand Finale: Students write their own AI Charter for the Future, five ways to use AI for good, five ways to prevent harm.
What We’re Doing in Week 10
Day 1: Is It Real or AI? - Spotting the difference between real and generated images.
Day 2: AI Hallucinations - Understanding when AI makes things up and learning to verify before believing.
Day 3: Ethics & Intent - Why the tool isn’t to blame; it’s the human behind it that matters.
Day 4: History of Technology - From the printing press to AI, it’s never been about the technology, it’s about human intention. Every invention can help, heal and create, or to harm and deceive.
Day 5: AI Charter for the Future - The class creates its own ethical code for using AI wisely and creatively.
The Big Idea
Week 10 is the perfect finale, it is the moment students realise AI is only as good or bad as the humans behind it. They leave empowered to question, verify and create responsibly in a world where truth and technology blur.
SMART Humans verify before they believe
👉 Grab Week 10 now give your class the tools to separate fact from fiction. They’ll decode fake images, test AI hallucinations and learn that it’s not the AI in charge, it’s the smart human using it.
Don’t keep this to yourself, good ideas are better shared.
Know a teacher who’d love this? Pass it on!”
